The size of it should tell. Several field guns were 12 lb and 24 lb guns. this are 4.5 and 5.67" if I remember. I have several, solid shot always sells for less then a charged round. The CS wood fuse 12 and 24lb sell for a good chunk.

10 INCH CANNONBALL FROM CANNON 4.6 POUNDS Up for auction is a cannonball measuring almost 10 inches around and weighing in at approx 4.6 pounds. I don't see a flat spot so am not sure if it was ever even fired. I was told this is from the civil war, but have nothing to prove it. Its old though and some rust on the outside.
